Historic Wheelhouse Homestead
Escape and enjoy the life of the true country gentleman. Breathe in the fresh air at our Historic Wheelhouse Homestead that dates back to 1858 and was one of the first homes in the county.
Being a 5th generation owner, I have dramatically improved and modernized the homestead to its current "country chic" charm and sophistication by restoring all of the home's early American architecture and original walnut logs.
With rolling hills, woods and lakes for outdoor fun, our home is the perfect getaway for those "city folks" who want to experience quiet, country living outside of the hustle and bustle of the big city.
With views overlooking yards of corn fields and a historic stagecoach route right out your window, this 700 + acre working farm is not shy to its various livestock that inhabit it. You will see diverse breeds of cattle, chickens, Canadian geese, deer and other various wildlife. Not to mention our stocked ponds, bees, herb garden, and orchards. You're in for country living at its finest--no doubt.
I also have a wonderful farm manager and a housekeeper who are both very accommodating and welcoming as well.
With 5 bedrooms, 3 baths, pool table and only a mile from the quaint town of Rushville--you're in for a real treat.
The Wheelhouse Farm home is located in Schuyler County--the heart of deer country - as the largest deer around - as they always have plenty to eat: corn and beans in the summer and wheat in the winter.
Although the town is quaint and has several real Americana festivals - the county fair over the 4th of July, the Corn festival etc.
