Calistoga Ranch review

This is a spectacular property. Terrific staff. What a great way to celebrate New Year's!”

Relaxing, beautiful, incredible

We always love the Calistoga Ranch. Such a beautiful place where one almost immediately can disconnect from reality. Internet often doesn't work very well, but we don't come here to Skype with people or download movies (which you can get DVD's from front desk). Biggest wish is that we always wanted the restaurant to serve organic foods. At the prices they should be organic! Nora, the concierge, is lovely. Always lots to do in Napa Valley. ”

Love the Calistoga Ranch

The Calistoga Ranch is a relaxing and wonderful place to visit. A special thank you to the club concierge "Nora" who is such a lovely and helpful person.”

Calistoga Ranch 5 Star Resort in Napa - World Class Wines, Dining and Views!

A fantastic experience, we could not have asked for a more peaceful, relaxing, and scenic environment. Our two bedroom residence offered plenty of privacy. A focal point was the beautiful open air living and dining space with grill and fireplace that surrounded a separate kitchen, living room, and the bedrooms. Plenty to do after returning from tasting, bocce ball, swimming, hiking and watching the wildlife. The staff amazing, Nora Chambers put our entire tasting/dining itinerary together, everything was spot on. We especially enjoyed the weekly tasting Nora hosts. Meeting residents and other 3rd Home guests. Can't wait to go back! ”

Not the luxury I was expecting

No one can control the weather. However, since we had several days of clouds and rain, the Ranch should have made provisions for mosquitoes. Fogging the area would have been appropriate. All they offered was a citronella candle which does nothing for an outdoor living room in the forest. Hence, rather than spraying ourselves with toxic bug repellent, we avoided the outdoor living area in the evening and only received bites while using the hot tub. I visited the spa to arrange for a mud bath. The receptionist told me they did not have that (it is advertised on their website). She also advised me that the spa's "natural healing mineral waters" are chlorinated. The main pool area (cover photo) was closed for renovation. The private lake to view from the restaurant and spa was 60% covered in algae growth.”

Wow

We knew the stay would be nice, but just didn't expect it to be that nice! The biggest challenge was the tough decision .... do we would enjoy day within the resort, soaking in the tubs and or hiking around, or do we venture outside the gates and wine taste, eat, bike ride; which are all world class things to do :) ”

A magnificent property with outstanding staff in a fabulous part of the world.”

Amazing in every way!

Calistoga Ranch has it all. Great accommodations, staff, location and amenities. Take the short 30 minute hike up behind the wine cave, the views are incredible. Be sure to attend the Friday night wine party for the members and guest, great way to meet other owners and 3RD HOME members. Anything you need the staff takes care of for you. ”

WONDERFUL WEEK AT CALISTOGA RANCH

We spent 7 days in a 2 bedroom owner's lodge. The unit was great with a fully equipped kitchen, a hot tub and a wonderful covered outdoor sitting area with a grill. Calistoga Ranch is well located for winery visits and restaurant excursions. We cooked at the unit 3 nights. There is a very good grocery store in Calistoga and a Farmers Market on Saturdays. One night we eat at the Lakehouse restaurant on the property. The setting, food and service were fabulous. Fabulous is the right word to describe our whole experience. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. We hope to snag another stay through 3RD Home. ”

Don't Go!

The reason we say, "Don't Go!", is very self-serving, as we LOVE Calistoga Ranch, and don't want anybody else to take a week next year that might prevent us from returning. It's an Auberge resort, so that means the service is spectacular; every employee thinks ahead of time of what you might need, and answers every request with promptness, politeness, and excellence. The home itself is one of the most unique we have ever had the privilege of visiting: it's like living in a luxurious treehouse, and with the perfect California weather, all we wanted to do was to stay in the outdoor living area from morning coffee until evening wine in the hot tub, or by the fire. We visited some of Napa's fine restaurants and wineries, but didn't stay away long because we wanted to just relax and enjoy Calistoga Ranch. So, don't go there if you don't truly appreciate stellar service, amenities, and creature comforts!”

Amazing amazing amazing!

We've stayed at top properties all around the world and nothing compares to the Calistoga Ranch. It's beautiful, relaxing and elegant yet casual. From the pool to the spa and the restaurant to the bocce courts, there's always an opportunity to enjoy.”

5 stars

Utterly gorgeous property and amazing home! The outdoor living area was a real sanctuary and the fireplaces and hot tub made it completely romantic in every way. All of the staff were helpful and professional and the restaurant food top notch and delicious. The peaceful surroundings made it truly hard to go back to reality. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed every single moment of this gem of location and the friendly warm people we met. Thank You Calistoga Ranch!”

Calistoga Ranch Stay

Second time we have exchanged at Calistoga. Staff great. Beautiful pool and hikes. Great design and plenty of space. We were in 203 and previously in 204. Both are a little close to other lodges and can be noisy. When you go, ask for a lodge in the upper section. They are newer, better designed and quieter. That said, we are going back whenever we can.”

Perfect Vacation

We have been blessed to have stayed at quite a few 5 star hotels and resorts throughout the world. Calistoga Ranch is now one of our top 5 favorites. We knew it would be nice since we've stayed at Auberge in Rutherford in the past but it most definitely surpassed our expectations. From the moment you arrive the staff makes you feel so welcome. They drive you in a golf cart to the VERY spacious lodge which has every amenity you can think of. The two king size bedroom suites were extremely comfortable. The indoor and outdoor living areas were so inviting that you were tempted to just hang out there. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need if you wish to cook. We used it mostly to store wine, cheeses, snacks, and breakfast foods. We loved the gas fireplace in the outdoor area. The location is perfect for exploring the vineyards and restaurants of both Napa and Sonoma – we visited Sterling, Jordan, Cakebread, Pride, Caymus and dined at Mustard Grill, The Girl and the Fig, Auberge du Soleil, Goose and Gander, Bistro Jeanty, and Bottega. We spent one afternoon taking a relaxing hike through the Ranch which we thoroughly enjoyed. At the end of our seven day stay we were not ready to leave. We will most definitely return in the near future. Thank you for a perfect vacation.”

Love this place

Had a great time over Thanksgiving. Was even able to take our dogs which is a rare treat. Even in the rain and colder weather, sitting outside in the outdoor living room was great with the heat lamp and fireplace.”

NikkoNovember 2014

Wonderful

Our week at Calistoga Ranch was all we imagined it would be! The accommodations are lovely and spacious. The staff is courteous and helpful. It is quiet and relaxing there, with only golf carts allowed on the property. When we called for our car, the golf cart picked us up within 10 minutes. Even though Calistoga is in Upper Napa Valley, we drove through all of Napa and Sonoma Valleys. It was all beautiful. Next time we'll invite another couple to enjoy it with us!”

Lovely Week in Napa

Calistoga Ranch is lovely place to spend a week in Napa Valley. The Suite, Ranch and Staff are all wonderful!”

AdamNovember 2014

Peaceful Calistoga Ranch

Our week at Calistoga Ranch was lovely and relaxing. Apart from a few minor gripes (lukewarm food at hotel restaurant, oddly appointed kitchen), the experience was very nice. The swellings are tastefully appointed and feature semi-outdoor living with separate bedroom / kitchen / living room pods. The staff was very friendly and helpful - they know how to treat their guests well. IWe'dd go back anytime.”

Amazing scenery!

There are many great wineries in Calistoga, but you never need to leave the property for a wonderful and relaxing stay, among the beautiful scenery. There are beautiful trails, a gym and a great spa at Calistoga Ranch, as well as delicious dining. The villas are beautiful and very comfortable. The weather was perfect, with warm days and cool mornings and evenings. We had a wonderful stay here. Jeri and Michael Archuleta, September 2014”

Great Calistoga Ranch Visit

Calistoga Ranch is an absolutely fabulous place from which to explore the Napa Valley. It is located in the midst of dozens of wineries and in close proximity to the towns of Calistoga and St. Helena. The resort itself is full of amenities including a great pool area, wine cave for entertainment, hiking trails, spa area and bicycles available to guests. The lodges are built right into the forrest and combine indoor and outdoor living in a perfect manner. The customer service is great from the moment you arrive until the day you leave. Great experience. ”

Calistoga Ranch

We had an extraordinary week at Calistoga Ranch. The 2-bedroom lodge we stayed at was beautiful and huge, and the grounds and facilities are 5-star. The staff, from the valet and shuttle service to housekeeping, goes above and beyond to provide impeccable service. No request is too small. The concierge was exceptional and actively engaged in setting up private tours and itineraries which were very unique and exclusive. Excellent in every way! Pat Magdol ”

SusanOctober 2013

Calistoga Ranch

We had a fantastic week at Calistoga Ranch. It is a well conceived and executed operation. The staff was top notch. Our two bedroom lodge was spacious, clean and easy to live in. It is a little dated in terms of furniture wear and tear for a high quality destination but overall very good. The grounds were beautiful although the no car policy is a little odd given that the staff golf carts were a constant buzz of activity. Seeems every time we took a walk we had to jump out of their way. There were also a high number of parents with young children so the children's voices and crying was a bit too present, especially at the pool. Food and wine at the Lakeside Restaurant was expensive but good ... but not as good as what can be found in town with all the local restaurants. Wine selection was limited to the parnters of Calistoga which was unfortunate in limiting the opportunity to enjoy some of the more unusual and interesting offerings available locally. I would definitely go back but focus my eating on local offerings and request that our lodge be in an adult area. It seems like a simple solution to the noise issue to group all parents with young children together in a cluster? ”

Magical. A 5 star resort located in the heart of wine country. Very relaxing and peaceful. If you are looking to get away from everything and exercise and eat well then this is a great place to visit and unwind.”

Beautiful place to stay

We enjoy a lot, our week in Calistoga Ranch. The property is amazing, completely private, and very romantic. The house is in the mountains, surrounded by a wild and natural landscape that makes it unique and wonderful. Wish to return to Calistoga Ranch, soon. Love 3rdHome. Make, the best places, possible. Best Retreat EVER!!!

Beautiful, Peaceful, Comfortable, Nature at its BEST! This was the very best family vacation we have ever taken. We have traveled the country and the world and hands down Calistoga Ranch is the best. We jokingly said we were "camping in style". I had no idea my husband and I could spend an entire week with our two young boys in the Napa area and never run out of things to do. And this property is so beautiful. The way the homes are set up, you are completely private. We had an outdoor shower of the master bedroom. Very Romantic. All the rooms are separated by an outdoor living space that includes a large fireplace and outdoor heaters. I just can't tell you how much we all enjoyed meeting there each evening and spent so much time talking about... nothing and everything. One more thing, the beds are soooooo comfortable. First thing my husband said was, "what kind of pillows are these, and I want you to buy some as soon as we get home". I am so glad to be a part of the 3rd home program. I don't think I would have ever found this place without you. We can't wait to go back. Thank you.”

Calistoga Ranch beauty

Arrived at Calistoga Ranch this fall to beautiful color and a very pristine setting. Service and accommodations were exactly as described on site, very roomy luxurious and of top quality. The location in the hillside is extremely relaxing and enjoyable, the Spa and fitness facilities were excellent. Overall experience was fantastic I wouldn't hesitate booking again if available.”

Marvelous, Well Appointed and Comfortable

With our highest recommendation! Teresa and I had a marvelous vacation at Calistoga Ranch. The design and layout of the lodges are truly fabulous offering both privacy and inviting common areas. As well, the positioning of each lodge within the canyon vis-a-vie the "neighbors" is brilliantly planned, again offering privacy and an opportunity to connect with the abundance of nature. The Calistoga Ranch staff offer excellent service. Our daily trips into Napa Valley with the various friends who joined us throughout the week to enjoy the many culinary delights made for a deeply memorable experience. We will return often. ”

Callistoga Ranch

We had a wonderful time, in a wonderful hidden valley, and in a wonderful property. The house in which we stayed was two bedrooms and like the other houses in the resort was a unique design; each room is a separate building all surrounding a large covered outdoor living area. The outdoor shower in the master bath is memorable. Cars are not used in the resort, you either walk or are driven in golf carts. There is a delightful stream running thru the valley which sources from a small lake at the top. The resturant is gourmet but quaint with had a home cooking quality. We ate there more than we had planned. The spa is also above the lake and is extremely high quality and relaxing. We would definately recommend staying at this property. We hope to be able to return for another visit when the weather is warmer.”

RobertMarch 2012

Relaxing & Romantic

The staff at Calistoga Ranch were truly five star service. The accommodations were relaxing and romantic to sit by the fire and also enjoy the wonderful rooms with duvets and large bathrooms to spa in. A view of nature from every room. The hiking trails lead you to a mile long hike overlooking the vineyards and the changing color of the leaves were breathtaking. St. Helena's is only a 10 minute drive into town to enjoy shopping wonderful restaurants like FarmStead, Napa Valley Culinary Institute was my favorite for lunch and shopping in their gift shop. Not to be missed... is the Champagne Tour at Schramsberg Vineyards. Best to enjoy this property with someone special.”
