Tybee Island was described as " the Hamptons in the '50's" Laid back, residential, with quiet streets for walking or riding bikes, where you will see million-dollar mansions and shelter crumbling-down bungalows alike. This home features five bedrooms, 4.25 baths, 11 beds, two hide-a-beds, and two cots. With a Private Pool and Hot Tub, Elevator, it comfortably sleeps 14 but can sleep as many as 22 using all cots and pull-out couches. We have had guests of just two people who love the space and four full families at once who say the home is perfect for multiple families. Lots of outdoor decks and porches. for more pictures, visit www.TybeeIslandJoy.com
Walk to the Summer homes of T.V. chef Paula Deene; watch out for John Mellencamp and Meg Ryan riding bikes or New York Times Bestselling Author Mary Kay Andrews, whose summer home is just four blocks away from our home. Actress Sandra Bullock has a beachfront Mansion on the Northside of the Island.
If you like biking, 2nd ave (the street directly behind ours has an actual bike path painted down the middle of the street). This world-famous Island was the site for the Movie THE LAST SONG, filmed in 2010. Rent that movie, and view the Island - as it was filmed two blocks from our home.
Tybee island is only 3 miles long and at the popular south end where our home is located - it is just 1/2 mile wide. You can walk to the Ocean to watch the Sunrise and Walk to the back river to watch the Sunset.
Visit THE BREAKFAST CLUB - world-famous (there will always be a line to get in). The classically trained Owner/Chef catered the JFK Junior Wedding. Warning, this restaurant looks like a 'hole-in-the-wall,' but it's part of Tybee Island's charm, understated, no flaunting wealth here - people come from all over the world to visit this restaurant, which is located across the street and down a half-block from our front door.
Along with our luxury accommodations and our outdoor decks and seating areas...our location is what everyone raves about. Along with the enormous great room, the kitchen boasts double ovens, double sinks, double refrigerators.
To visit Tybee Island at its finest, you will want to stay in this luxury home and drive to Savannah one day (17 minutes by car) and see the Paris of the United States. If you haven't been there - Savannah is the Prettiest city in the world. Take a carriage ride along with a historical tour.
You may, like us, decide to stay. We came here from L.A. and decided Tybee Island is a cross between Venice Beach and the Manhattan Beach Tree section trees. But, it was our friends from New York who said, "This is the Hamptons in the '50's" Laid back, casual, where the millionaires blend in with the local surfing and musician crowd. We love it!
