London Water Tower

3 - 9510

Description

Romantic, contemporary and architecturally designed, the London Water Tower has been featured in many British newspapers as well as the US Househunters series (London episode) and UK's Restoration Man program.

You will feel like you are in your own private kingdom once you close the gates on the walled garden and go past the moat into the Tower. Two buildings are all yours - the historic glamour of the Victorian Water Tower with its 12 inch thick walls and the stylish design of the modern Pavilion building. The buildings (connected by an internal bridge) benefit from a $600,000 interior design fit-out with Philippe Starck bathrooms. There are TV/DVD/satellite and ipod speakers in every bedroom along with toiletries from The White Company and robes for you to use during your stay.

You can watch the sunset over the City of London while you sip a martini in the observatory lounge or spread out in the spacious reception room in the Pavilion. On a nice evening, why not dine al fresco?

All our guests have been delighted by their stay. Public transport or taxis can whisk you into Central London in 40 minutes or we can arrange caterers, beauty therapists and even opera singers to come to you while you enjoy your private mini-kingdom.

A Unique Experience

The time we spent at the London Water Tower was a beautiful experience. From the fresh flowers waiting for us to having Tracey welcome us and explain the history and how to best enjoy the property, we felt at home. This was a unique experience with the juxtaposition of history and modern, the added bonus of the amazing views was worth the trip. Thanks again Catherine!!”

A Restoration in Need of Restoration

This well conceived modernist renovation shows that the developer had the best of intentions. The actual execution of the plan is useful, interesting and beautiful. I’m certain that the fittings, finishing and furnishings were state-of-the-art when first installed, but ravages of time, excessive use and questionable management have been hard on this place. A deep, deep, deep, cleaning is needed inside and out! We had to wash just about everything before use. Stained fabrics, dirt and greasy smudges were everywhere. We tried to clean up but found that the cleaning products and solvents had been diluted so much with water that they were rendered nearly useless. We ended up buying our own supplies and starting fresh. It seems that a shifting real estate market has stranded the London Water Tower in a fringe neighborhood – Not quite here, nor there. One the exterior, the lovely water feature seen sparkling in the promo photos was actually a murky green moat supporting an entire civilization of mosquitoes. We skimmed it and added our own chlorine for hygiene. In the end, little of this detracts from that fact that the London Water Tower is an exciting place to spend some time gawking at the outrageous views across greater London. On a clear day you literally can see forever. But, not unlike a waning nightclub in daylight, you can also see a decade of deferred maintenance in each and every square inch of this place. ”

London Water Tower

We had a most enjoyable stay at this truly unique house. We had an amazing 360-degree view from the penthouse that included London, Greenwich and as far as the eye could see. We were greeted with great hospitality and made to feel very much at home.”
