The history of Villa Scopetello is as amazing as the villa itself. Historical documents first mention the Villa in 1331, but Etruscan ruins found on the property suggest that it is even far older than that. The first recorded owner found in documents from the 14th Century was Giovanni di Diagio da Torrita. The Villa then belonged to the father of Pope Pio II, whose family owned the Villa until 1873. In 1971 the Villa was completely restored, and in 2007/2008 it was renovated and the infrastructure was modernized in order to provide guests the most convenient and lovely of experiences.

Around the villa you will also find 5 secluded hilltop hectares of beautiful traditional Tuscan landscape with olive groves, grape vines, and spectacular panoramic vistas.

A wide range of additional services can be arranged on request such as transportation, daily housekeeping, and chef's service Please enquire directly with the owner after booking for further details and costs. Pool opening time is from first of may to the end of October!

Reviews

Good place for groups - Real Italian Rustic Experience

The property was located in the heart of Tuscany. It is also designed to handle a large group of people. It is especially good if the groups are families as the house has sections called suites that will have two - three bedroom and one or two bathrooms that can be closed off for privacy. There are also two kitchen. The house host Sonja is very helpful and will work with you on planning you trip and also offer to prepare and provide meals for the group. There was also plenty of firewood for the big fireplace in the main living room, which was on every hour we were awake in the home. We stayed here over Thanksgiving so the weather was too cold to enjoy swimming, using the hot tub or tennis. It was also hunting season so going for a hike around the beautiful property was risky. There are a few things to be aware of if you are considering going, this house is in the middle of Tuscany, which means depending on when you go it could be more Rustic than expected. Such as weak or no-existent internet. Also, if you go during the colder months be prepared with slippers and a robe as the heat in some of the rooms can't keep up. There is a lot of wonder wildlife and nature on this property such as a olive grove, that produced some of the best olive oil I've ever had. There also chickens and duck roaming the property. It was very country and filled with beautiful scenery. ”

Our stay at Villa Scopetello to celebrate our 50th Anniversary was absolutely wonderful. Sonja & Michel were perfect host and attentive to every detail. Sonja's cooking was way above our expectations. We highly recommend this facility. All beds are not King Beds as described in the 3rd Home web sight and should be corrected. ”
