Historic Elegant Villa in a Vineyard near Florence
Villa la Querce is surrounded by vineyards and olive orchards in the hillsides of florentine Chianti.
Located on the road that connects Bagnolo with Impruneta (2 km away), Villa la Querce measures 900 square meters and contains smeo great examples of the famous Imprunetine cotto in the amazing ceilings of the villa. - the cotto tiles of the Duomo in Florence were made in Impruneta!
Although the reputation of the estate is mainly linked to the quality of its wines and extra virgin olive oil which have won a great number of prizes and accolades, a considerable interest has been paid to the villa due to its prominent architectural elements and historical importance.
This elegant villa, with parts that date back to the 1300s is dominated by a stately tower. The form is somber and dignified both in the design of its layout and in the finish of the facade. But the origin of the property dates even further back.
A document dated 1042 reports the sale of a “house with land and vineyards” in this area, indicating without doubt the antiquity of the cultivation of vineyards in the region.
During Second World War the villa knew dramatic moments. In 1944 it was occupied by the Germans who cut down the enormous oak tree that gave the name to the property in an effort to block the road, but the tree fell on the wrong side of the road and ruined their plans.
Villa La Querce comprises 7 bedrooms, all air-conditioned, and 6 bathrooms comfortably sleeping up to 14 people.
The villa is on 3 levels and is structured as follows:
On the ground floor guests are welcomed by a magnificent hall with huge fireplace, 2 elegant living rooms (one of which has an office area with fax machine and Adsl internet connection), dining hall with a large table suited for 14 guests, a fully-equipped kitchen and 2 double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms.
On the first floor there is a large hall with grand piano, a comfortable living room with satellite tv, the breathtaking master bedroom with en-suite bathroom, one large and elegant twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom, one double bedroom and a twin canopy bedroom. These two rooms share a bathroom.
The second floor (the tower) features a cozy living room with tv, a twin bedroom (but the beds can be combined to obtain a double bed) with amazing view of the valley and a bathroom. All the bedrooms have plenty of storage space.
In the basement we have our treasured wine cellars (available to guests for wine tasting tours), the gym with sauna, the laundry room (with washing machine, drying machine and iron board) and the staff quarters (not available for guests).
Daily maid service is included (apart from Sundays) and our team will put breakfast out for you every morning (you just pay for the food you want to be served).
Guests are invited to tour our cellar and vineyards with the “fattore”. It is also possible to organize cooking lessons at the villa should you wish.
All in all, a wonderful property in a spectacular setting for a memorable holiday!

Beautiful rustic Tuscan delight
if you enjoy rustic as opposed to all mod cons. as we do, then Villa La Querce is a delightful way to enjoy the bounty that is Tuscany. La Querce is a manor of baronial proportions with large high-ceilinged rooms. The spacious pool is a delight surrounded by Olive trees and the tour of the vineyard and wine-tasting was an unexpected bonus. The grounds are set in an olive grove surrounded by vineyards. It was lovely to drink their wine and consume their olive oil, samples of which were brought back home. We had several al-fresco meals in the various eating areas. The staff were courteous and helpful and the place well-maintained. The 20 minute drive allowed plenty of opportunity to explore the delights of Florence. All I all, a great holiday in a charming property.”
