Description

This home is situated in colonial Old Town, the most desirable part of Alexandria right by the Potomac. The home is on a unique no-thru-traffic street in Old Town and is it's own little neighborhood.

It is right across the river from Washington D.C. just 15 minutes over a bridge by either Metro or car.

The home is 3 homes from a large park on the Potomac where there is also The Torpedo Factory (a real WWII torpedo factory converted into a large art center), the ferry landing, the marina, river cruise lines, and large river-side public plazas with restaurants.

One can take a ferry directly to the Washington Nationals Ball Park or one can spend an evening on a dinner cruise while viewing the D.C. monuments which are lit at night.

Alexandria's famous shoppng street full of wonderful restaurants, boutique shops, art galleries and antique stores hooks into the ferry plaza.

A free trolley leaves every 15 minutes to take one along the shopping street and to the Metro into DC.

This townhome was completely remodeled down to the studs 7 years ago, so baths, kitchen, electric, plumbing etc are almost new. It is well furnished to be appropriate for entertaining high level Washington diplomats.

A private patio with mature trees is in the rear.

A TV room, with wet bar, large sectional couch, laundry area and powder room are on the lower level. The main level has a large living room, a 20 foot dining room and kitchen.

The bedroom level has the Master with a California King, a walk in closet and full marble bath with shower and soak tub. A second bedroom on that floor has two extra long twins, and there is a separate sitting room. A child could sleep on that couch if it were preferred to one of the beds. There is a very nice full marble bath in the hall.

The upper level has a large skylight, a good sized queen bedroom with a view of the Potomac, a full bath, and a good sized study with a staircase to the roof deck, a rare feature in Old Town, overlooking the River.

From the roof deck one has a panoramic view all the way up the Potomac to the Capitol. It's a wonderful place with an unsurpassed view to have lunch or dinner.

Wow! What a view!

Peggy met us at the residence and explained all the particulars about the 4 story townhouse with an additional rooftop patio that was amazing! There was a back patio also that we ejoyed every morning and evening before going out on our adventure into D.C., or on a short walk to the vibrant night life of Alexandria full of restaurants and shops we throughly enjoyed. Peggy even had us set up with several items for breakfast and snacks. Thanks again for sharing your home with us. Rusty & Lisa ”

Enchanting Potomac

Our stay in Peggy Rhodes' Alexandria townhome was wonderful. The home is immaculate, with a lovely patio and roof top. The history of our country emanates from the pictures on the walls and the library. Main street Alexandria is a short walk away, with excellent dining options. D.C. a 15 min Uber ride away. Our hostess could not have been more gracious. Highly recommended!”

Location!

This was a peaceful oasis in a perfect location in Alexandria. We came to see the historic sites and museums in Washington DC but really appreciated retreating back to our roomy and comfortable oasis in Old Town Alexandria. We were just 5 minutes from the main business streets with lovely shops and restaurants and Trolley line and the water taxi. Peggy was an attentive and gracious host, giving us all the information and guidance needed. Lovely outdoor patio for morning coffee!”

Washington DC

Fantastic trip. My family and I enjoyed all that Washington had to offer from the convenience of Old Town Alexandria. The house is top of the line and very close to the water, restaurants, shopping and metro. Peggy is a gracious host and very helpful with recommendations for activities in Washington. ”

Five star property

We were so pleased with our extremely well located and well appointed property in Alexandria. It was just a wonderful week with easy access to the trolley and the metro and downtown DC. The townhouse is configured on different levels so that all family members had their own space. There is a park across the street by the side of the River so the children could play. It is a wonderful property and the owner went out of her way to extend every hospitality to us. Thanks for a great week!! Janie Stewart”
