Reviews

Beautiful property with a few maintenance hiccups

We had a lovely time-- it's really a beautiful property, and the area is such a wonderful place to visit, close to great hikes, stores, restaurants, etc. Highlights included the big, gorgeous kitchen, the woods and creek on the property behind the house, the giant fireplace, and the interior architecture. The house is historic and impressive, and clearly carefully restored. A few things that we noticed: the house hadn't been cleaned very well (the bathtubs, for example, were really grimy, and all the windowsills were covered with dust and dead flies. There was dirt (as in loose soil) on the pillows in two upstairs rooms, and guests noticed big stains all over nearly every bath towel. The third floor also had an infestation of black flies, which made bedtime a little noisy!”

Great Stay

Enjoyed a wonderful week at this historic estate in upstate New York. The house carries the charm of its 18th century roots while offering many modern amenities such as a large and well equipped kitchen, updated bathrooms and fixtures, etc. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Despite some chilly weather, we were able to enjoy the lovely heated salt-water pool. Owner was wonderful to work with, very accommodating and checked in several times to ensure we were enjoying our stay. Would rent again.”
