Lakefront Home on Lake Murray
Lakefront Home on Lake Murray
As you drive between the stone columns with its gated entrance you come to love "lake living and relaxing" at its best! Look at the aerial photos to get an idea of the privacy that awaits you.
Enjoy the beautiful sunsets (thus the name Sundown Ct) and wildlife from this secluded point lot with its 270 degree water views. Every room in the home (except the 1/2 bath) has a water view.
The lake-side stone and boulder patio is a perfect place to relax, read, and listen to your favorite tunes. Strict attention has been paid to the landscaping and many varieties of flowers will provide an array of colors.
If water sports is your desire, there is a floating dock, jet ski dock, and fixed dock for whatever your pleasure. There is plenty of room for a large family or friends and we hope you will enjoy it as much as we have.
Lake Murray is a reservoir in South Carolina. It is approximately 50,000 acres in size, and has roughly 500 miles of shoreline. Lake Murray is fed by the Saluda River, which flows from upstate South Carolina near the North Carolina state line. The Saluda Dam (officially the Dreher Shoals Dam) was an engineering feat at the time of its construction. The dam, using the native red clay soil and bedrock, was the largest earthen dam in the world when it was completed in 1930. This is a great swimming lake.

Lovely and relaxing
We enjoyed our stay on the lake. The house is large while remaining cozy. It is lovely to have dinner outside on the patio and to watch the sunset over the lake. Great way to relax, reconnect and enjoy family and friends. We hope to return sometime soon. Thanks for sharing your home with us. Jen Ranglas ”
A relaxing lake vacation!
Our family just enjoyed a week at this lovely lake-front home. The house was beautiful and welcoming, and the views of the lake from the property were unrivaled. Straight across the lake every evening, we enjoyed a perfect purple and orange sunset while having a drink on the comfortable deck. The landscaping was beautiful, and we were even able to use the fire pit for hot dogs and roasted marshmallows! We rented a pontoon boat for relaxing cruises and tubing for the kids that was easily docked near the house for convenience. We truly enjoyed our experience and are grateful to the family for such a lovely trip! ”
We had a fantastic week at this lake front home on Lake Murray. When they say lake front they really mean it as the water is literally right out the front door. The house is beautiful and had everything we needed for a great vacation with our family. We were able to rent a deck boat for the day from South shore Marina which was a 15 min. drive from the house and only a 10min trip by boat. We also did a dinner cruise on the "spirit of Lake Murray" which lasted about 31/2 hours and included a wonderful dinner and a trip to Bomb Island to see the purple martins come home to roost about 45 min before night fall. Each night during July and August approx.500,000 martins come home to this island each night and it is a sight to behold. Everything about the house both inside and out was perfect and the owners were a delight to work with.”
Nice Home on Lake
Had a great stay for two weeks at this home with different family members from around the country each week. Nicely kept and nice ambiance fire pit and chairs near the water. Couple of disappointments: no internet provided for this high end home during high season-- difficult to keep children entertained or isolated without their devices. Also, little irritants like asking guests to take their trash with them since no service provided doesn't meet the standards of the 3rd Home community. Still recommend.”
I took my team this time for a corporate retreat. It was the perfect location and setting to do work, bond, watch the sunsets, and enjoy time bonding. Mike is the perfect host.”
My second time staying within 30 days...and the second time around is even better than the first! This place is something special, and the owner is also. We will be back.”
A Slice of Heaven
This property's pictures do not do it justice. The house is located truly off the beaten path, so when we pulled up and saw the gates and the lights, my first thought was "Santa Barbara". But it's not. It sits directly on Lake Murray, a lake large enough that you cannot see the houses across the lake. The house has been designed to capture the sunsets--and they are delightful. About 2 1/2 hours from Atlanta, you feel like you are a million miles away. The only visual that came to mind was "On Golden Pond". The house is an open home and well suited for family. The bedrooms are big and spacious, but the real gem is the outside area. We lived between the hammock, the gazebo, and the Adirondack chairs. One morning, a flock of about 15 geese decided to do a flyby and they were about 3 feet from my nose and it felt like the jets doing maneuvers...truly a slice of heaven. The water is nice and cool and the activity on the water when we were there was very little. There was one afternoon we threw the football in the backyard and my brother-in-law said "This reminds me of those pictures of the Kennedy compound at Cape Cod..." He was right! Michael was the perfect host responding to all issues within minutes. This place should not be missed. ”
This property is peaceful, comfortable, well appointed, and a pleasure to just sink into and enjoy. Lakeside living at it"s best. I highly recommend this retreat where you just might remind yourself of the meaning of life. ”
Great family retreat
We just returned from a great week at Lake Murray. Mike and Maggie could not have been better hosts with their "house manual" that immediately made it feel like their home was ours. The home is completely relaxing with many well thought out gathering areas from the fire pit lakeside to the perfectly placed table on the patio to enjoy breakfast while watching flocks of geese swim by. I would recommend renting a boat and exploring the lake at least one day, we took the advice of our hosts and ended up at a great lakefront restaurant. Great for kids as well, our 3, 7, and 9 year olds swam away the days and learned the relaxation of fishing, and also exhilaration of tubing. Thanks again for everything Mike and Maggie. ”
