Description

This villa has a front entrance with on street parking and a rear entrance with parking spaces for two. The rear entrance brings you through an open and large patio, and through the French doors and into the living area. The front entrance is a more formal main level entrance thru a common vestibule.

The ground floor living area has a generous west facing living room, with double french doors, high ceilings, and generous sized windows. Comfortable and elegant, this tastefully decorated living area has a designer sofa, 2 oversized chairs, and 2 occasional chairs. Floor lamps as well as recessed lighting create multiple opportunities to curl up with a good book on a lazy Saturday or rainy Sunday.

Across from the living area with views onto the terrace is the office area with Mahogany writing desk, retrieved from a Mandarin Hotel renovation a few years ago. This Art Deco Contemporary piece has a chinese red insert drawer that sits below a removable glass top. With stainless steel anklets, the legs of the desk look very elegant and sanguine. Just the perfect setting to open up that MacBook and do some work.

Adjacent to the living room is the dining area, with seating for 6. This oversized glass top table uses as a base 2 pieces of Black African Granite, mined in the caves of South Africa near Johannesburg.

On the opposite side of the dining room wall are the kitchen and powder room. The large eat-in kitchen, with its African slate tile floor, was renovated in 2008 and has all stainless steel appliances. The refrigerator has a water dispenser, the oven is electric, as is dishwasher and microwave oven. There is generous counter space with under-the-cabinet lighting. The kitchen has a circular wood block table with chairs that looks out onto the quiet street though 2 ivy-surround windows. There is a flat screen television in the kitchen.

The powder room is painted in Ralph Lauren's Hunting Coat Red. There are both a Kohler Pedestal Sink and Kohler Faucets.

The 2 bedrooms are located on the upper floor and are accessed via the staircase off the entry room hallway. The front bedroom has a 2 poster Queen Bed. There is a Duncan Phyfe upholstered settee and antique small coffee table, perfect for a nice evening read or morning coffee before heading downstairs with the group. This front bedroom, called the Master, has 3 custom built closets along the south wall. This bedroom shares a hall bath.

The rear bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with marble tiles, a rainshower showerhead, Kohler pedestal sink and oversized medicine cabinet. This rear bedroom has 2 Antique Mahogany Double Beds, with large flatscreen on adjacent wall. This bedroom has good closet space and storage using open storage cubes.

This is a perfect package of a good location, tastefully appointed, quiet and relaxed home with access to Baseball, Metro, Shops, Restaurants and the Waterfront. This home is perfect for the family visiting on vacation, the business executive bringing his or her family, Baseball enthusiasts, or anyone seeking an International Flair on a yet decidedly American experience!

DC Waterfront District

Washington, DC Southwest Quadrant including DC's Waterfront district is actually composed of four separate sections:

The Southwest Employment District, the area between the National Mall and the Southeast/Southwest Freeway (Interstate 395) that contains the Smithsonian museums along the south side of the Mall — including the Hirshhorn Museum, the National Air and Space Museum, the U.S. Holocaust Museum, and the Museum of the American Indian — as well as L'Enfant Plaza and a large concentration of federal office buildings for Executive Branch departments and the U.S. House of Representatives.

It also includes the Southwest Waterfront, between I-395 and the Potomac River, a residential neighborhood that is home to the Maine Ave Fish Market, Arena Stage, the Washington Marina, and Hains Point; East and West Potomac Park, a conjunction of two national parks between I-395 and the National Mall that contains the Tidal Basin, and the Jefferson Memorial.

The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial (West Potomac Park continues into Northwest and includes the Lincoln Memorial and World War II Memorial, both of which straddle the Southwest/Northwest boundary).

And the area south and east of the Anacostia River containing Bolling Air Force Base, the military installation which together with Naval District Washington, Naval Research Laboratory, and Blue Plains sewage treatment plant occupies all of the Southwest land between South Capitol Street (to the east) and the Anacostia River (to the west).

Reviews

Awesome property in DC!!!

We had a spectacular time at Bernard's property. It absolutely lovely, and centrally located to metro transportation. It was beautifully decorated, and extremely clean. He provided us with directions and assistance both before and after we arrived, and made our trip one of the best yet. We will absolutely be back. Thanks Bernard! ”

Close to Everything

The townhouse is very close to the metro so it was so easy getting to the main locations like the mall area and museums. Bernard, the owner was so easy to work with and answered any question that we had. The townhouse was very welcoming and had 2 bedrooms with 2 1/2 baths. Hope to return again. Thanks,”
