Recently renovated, this four-bedroom 4,500 square foot house has a spectacular view in a unique, wooded setting on the Hudson River, but is only 90 minutes by car or train from New York City. Enjoy world class dining, mountain biking, rock climbing, summer and winter hiking, horseback riding, boating, the renown Culinary Institute, Hyde Park, Roosevelt and Vanderbilt Homes, world renown Mohonk Mountain Lodge, Buttermilk Falls Inn and Spa, and the hip village of New Paltz. Or just nap by the pool and watch ships and sailboats go by.
The home as 3 formal bedrooms, all with river views, an office/bedroom with a kid's sleeping loft, and a cozy walk-out basement game room with another bed and the same beautiful river view as the rest of the house. Through the front door is a gracious foyer and a giant living room with 20-foot ceilings, fireplace, Steinway grand piano, and dining for 12. Adjacent are a large kitchen and family-room right next to the pool, barbecue grills and garage, everything connected by a 50-ft deck with wood lounge chairs overlooking the Hudson River. Play ping pong, sing along at the piano, shoot pool on an antique Brunswick table, explore Apple TV, sing Karaoke, or host a formal dinner. The perfect home away from home.
Upstairs, the master suite has its own balcony overlooking the pool and river, king-size 4-poster bed, walk-in closet, sitting area, private bath and dressing counter. Bedrooms #2 and #3 have queen beds, river views, and shared bath. Game room and office have cozy queen beds on soft Asian rugs. Enjoy high-quality linens, down pillows and comforters in every bedroom.
You'll find every modern convenience here: wireless Internet, Apple TV with Netflix, HBO, Hulu, iTunes, and other entertainment portals; firewood, strong mobile phone signal, complete kitchen appliances, charcoal and gas grills, garage, W/D, central air/heat, child-proof electric sockets and door gates for the little ones. Smoke and pet free.
The house is situated off Bellevue Avenue, which like its name suggests, affords spectacular views of Dutchess County across the Hudson River. Two miles from the village of Highland, a classic small New England hamlet with no Starbucks or Home Depot, it is perfectly situated between mountains and river with quiet countryside all around.
You'll be 5 minutes from the Mid-Hudson Bridge and remarkable Walkway Over the Hudson, the world's longest pedestrian bridge, once the only railway connecting New England to the rest of America, but now a wide jogging, strolling and biking bath right over the river. Within sight is the Culinary Institute of America, FDR and Vanderbilt mansions, and antique stores everywhere. Just 20 minutes away are the stunning Mohonk Mountain House and kid-friendly Rocking Horse Ranch. And just a little farther are West Point Military Academy, Storm King outdoor sculpture center, DIA art foundation and other Hudson Valley destinations. New York City is an easy commute, the train station with hourly service only 15 minutes from the house.

This very comfortable house has spectacular views of the Hudson River. It was perfectly located for our visits to the lovely towns of New Paltz and Rhinebeck as well as the Culinary Institute of America, which we had a great view of right across the Hudson. Each day we set off for an easy drive to a wonderful destination. We visited Storm King Sulpture Park, DIA Beacon, Val Kill, and FDR's home. The home does need some updating which the owner is aware of and has already started.”
