Description

Request A Week anytime.

Recently renovated, this three-bedroom 4,500 square foot house has a spectacular view in a private wooded setting right on the Hudson River, but is only 90 minutes by car or train from New York City. Enjoy world class dining, mountain biking, rock climbing, summer and winter hiking, horseback riding, boating, the renown Culinary Institute, Hyde Park, Roosevelt and Vanderbilt Homes, world renown Mohonk Mountain Lodge, Buttermilk Falls Inn and Spa, and the hip village of New Paltz. Or just nap by the pool and watch ships and sailboats go by.

The home has 3 formal bedrooms, all with river views, an office with spare bed, plus a cozy walk-out basement/game-room with the same beautiful river view as the rest of the house. Inside the front door is a gracious foyer and a giant living room with 20-foot ceilings, fireplace, Steinway grand piano, and dining for 12. On the same level are a large kitchen, family-room, pool, deck and garage, all of it connected by a 50-ft deck overlooking the Hudson River. Play ping pong, sing along at the piano, shoot pool on an antique Brunswick table, browse unlimited entertainment selections on Apple TV, sing Karaoke, or host a formal dinner. The perfect home-away-from-home.

Upstairs, the master suite has its own balcony overlooking the pool and river, king-size 4-poster bed, walk-in closet, sitting area, private bath and dressing counter. Bedrooms #2 and #3 have queen beds, river views, and shared bath.

The game room in the basement and the office upstairs off the master bedroom are large and cozy and you'll enjoy high-quality cotton linens, down pillows and comforters throughout the house.

You'll find every modern convenience here: wireless Internet, Apple TV with Netflix, HBO, Hulu, iTunes, and other entertainment portals; firewood, strong mobile phone signal, complete kitchen appliances, charcoal and gas grills, garage, W/D, central air/heat, child-proof electric sockets and door gates for the little ones. Smoke and pet free.

The house is situated off Bellevue Avenue, which, like its name suggests, affords spectacular views of Dutchess County across the Hudson River. Two miles from the village of Highland, a classic small New England hamlet with no Starbucks or Home Depot, it is perfectly situated between mountains and river with quiet countryside all around.

You'll be 5 minutes from the Mid-Hudson Bridge and remarkable Walkway Over the Hudson, the world's longest pedestrian bridge, once the only railway connecting New England to the rest of America, but now a wide jogging, strolling and biking path spanning the river. Within sight are the Culinary Institute of America, FDR home, Vanderbilt mansion, and antique stores. Just 20 minutes away are the world-famous Mohonk Mountain House and fun, kid-friendly Rocking Horse Ranch. And just a little farther are hip Beacon, the U.S Military Academy at West Point, Storm King outdoor sculpture center, DIA Art Foundation and other Hudson Valley destinations. New York City is an easy commute via the train station 15 minutes from the house.

THE VIEW!

My family had a lovely time on our girls trip. We enjoyed the pool and pulled a Romona for the bedrooms. I enjoyed the kitchen and cooked dinner and breakfast. We explored New Paltz, Mohonk and the walking bridge over the Hudson. It did rain one day so we played pool and ping pong in the basement.”

Hudson River Valley

This house provided a prefect location as a base to explore the Hudson River Valley. Directly across the Hudson from FDR home and Vanderbilt homes. Close to West Point, Woodstock and the Catskills. Enjoyed our stay. ”

Spectacular setting!

This very comfortable house has spectacular views of the Hudson River. It was perfectly located for our visits to the lovely towns of New Paltz and Rhinebeck as well as the Culinary Institute of America, which we had a great view of right across the Hudson. Each day we set off for an easy drive to a wonderful destination. We visited Storm King Sulpture Park, DIA Beacon, Val Kill, and FDR's home. The home does need some updating which the owner is aware of and has already started.”
