ITINERARY In Brief:

DAY 1 - ARRIVE ZURICH:
After arrival in Zurich transfer to your hotel by local city train or private car/driver. Depending on arrival time opportunity to discover the world famous shopping mile Bahnhofstrasse or stroll along the banks of Lake Zurich.

DAY 2 - ZURICH TO INTERLAKEN:
Embark on your rail journey to Interlaken. Starting in the German speaking Lucerne region, the romantic route by train takes you over the Brunig pass into the Bernese Oberland and passing Lake Brienz. After a short journey you arrive into Interlaken, where you will transfer to your hotel. This afternoon enjoy a guided excursion to Jungfraujoch. Take the train from Interlaken to Kleine Scheidegg at the foot of the famous Eiger. Change trains to get on board the Jungfrau railway and ride via “Eiger Gletscher” to the Jungfraujoch - the highest railway station in Europe at over eleven thousand feet. See breathtaking views of the Aletsch glacier, the longest in the Alps at over 13 miles and an UNESCO World Heritage site.

DAY 3 - INTERLAKEN:
Free day in Interlaken to relax or perhaps explore further on an optional excursion.

DAY 4 - INTERLAKEN TO MONTREUX:
Your rail journey continues on the Golden Pass line. Along the shores of Lake Thun you reach the Simmen valley with Zweisimmen and the world known holiday resort of Gstaad. Further on through the wild romantic Pays d’Enhaut with the scenic villages of Chateau d’Oex and Montbovon, the rails will continue through a tunnel before the panoramic view of Lake Geneva and Montreux opens in front of you. This evening is at leisure to enjoy as you wish.

DAY 5 - MONTREUX TO ZERMATT:
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and afterwards travel from Montreux to Zermat by train. Upon arrival, the remainder of the day is at your leisure. Sitting at the foot of the Matterhorn, Zermatt is a car-free zone and has preserved its original character. Explore and relax in this stunning environment.

DAY 6 - ZERMATT:
Today you have an excursion to the Gornergrat. Take one of Europe’s highest cog-wheel trains up to the Gornergrat and enjoy views of the surrounding mountains and the Matterhorn. Leisure time in Zermatt for the remainder of the day and evening.

DAY 7 - ZERMATT TO ST. MORITZ:
In the morning you take the world famous Glacier Express for a thrilling ride in the panorama train carriage to St. Moritz. Take in some of the most dramatic scenery Switzerland has to offer on this route. Along the deep Rhone valley, the Glacier Express travels through an incredibly fascinating part of the Alps, then takes you over the Oberalp pass at 6,670-ft and continues through the impressive Rhine gorge. After an exhilarating trip, you finally arriveto St. Moritz. The evening is free to relax and enjoy a fantastic dinner.

DAY 8 - ST. MORITZ TO LUGANO:
Board the narrow-gauge Bernina Express in St. Moritz and enjoy yet another impressive scenic rail journey that Switzerland offers. Travel over circular viaducts and pass through winding tunnels before reaching Tirano, Italy. which is the end of the Bernina Express rail line. Change to the Bernina Express bus which will take you back to Switzerland and onwards to Ticino. The journey ends in Lugano, southern Switzerland’s largest and picturesque town. Enjoy the evening as you wish.

DAY 9 - LUGANO TO LUCERNE:
Continue the panoramic rail journey on-board the train from Lugano to Fluelen via Bellinzona. In Fluelen board the historic Wilhelm Tell paddle steamer for the stunning scenic cruise across Lake Lucerne. Enjoy a wonderful lunch served on-board while cruising. Upon arrival into Lucerne, choose either excursion of the Pre-Alpine Express (OR) Mt. Pilatus. Traveling by the Pre-Alpine Express introduces you to a Switzerland of gently undulating hills, picture-perfect villages and fertile orchards. With the Pre-Alpine Express, you cross over the highest railway bridge in Switzerland and see It’s 99-metre high Sitter viaduct near St. Gallen. The city’s most famous landmark is its Baroque cathedral with the Abbey Library, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983. OR, if you opt for the Mt. Pilatus excursion you will enjoy fantastic views of the Lake Lucerne region. Take a short cruise across the lake to Alpnachstad. Change here to the steepest cogwheel train in the world. For the return journey chose between cog-wheel train or gondola to Kriens and then back to Lucerne by bus. Evening free to enjoy as you wish.

DAY 11 - LUCERNE:
Free day in Lucerne to relax or perhaps explore further on an optional excursion.

DAY 12 - DEPART LUCERNE:
After your breakfast, transfer by driver-car to the airport for your return flight home.
