Description

Soleil is a truly impressive 5-bedroom Tobago vacation villa. Regally located on a hillside in beautiful Arnos Vale, the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea practically on the doorstep, this magical “house of a thousand windows” has a subtly soothing Japanese ambience and a decor perfectly suited to the environment.

Step out into the open courtyard that takes centre stage in this stunning villa. You will feel as if you are outside. With no roof or ceiling, the courtyard is an architectural showcase for daytime sun and wonderful night skies unpolluted by city lights.

Admire the stunning views from your bedroom lounge. Feel your worries fade away as your senses come alive to the sea’s refreshing breeze, the smell of the salt air and the sun sparkling on the water below.

French for ‘sun’, Soleil is aptly named. The villa design makes the most of the stunning location; an elemental adventure waiting to happen!

Whether relaxing beside the pool or out exploring Tobago, you can be as lazy or as adventurous as you wish when staying at Soleil.

Your Tobago experience begins for 3RD HOME members at the airport, where one of Soleil's trusty drivers will be waiting to take you to the villa.

Arriving at the villa, one of Soleil's managers, either Gillian or Helen (or probably both), will be there to greet you and provide a tour of the accommodation, facilities, and thereafter be on call for the duration of your visit to ensure that every aspect of your holiday runs smoothly.

All you need to do is to unpack. Feel pampered!

Three days a week, Soleil's housekeeper will come in to clean and ensure that your stay is pleasurable. If you would like someone with intimate knowledge of the island to drive you around, that can easily be organised! If you would prefer to hire a car, that too can be arranged for you.

Soleil's managers will also be more than happy to organise nature or sightseeing tours and any activities you are interested in; all with trusted local guides. Horse riding, deep-sea diving, an all-inclusive day of snorkelling and sailing aboard Island Girl, or a day-trip to Trinidad with a local birding expert are all activities worth considering. Not to mention a few more seasonal ones like sport-fishing, surfing at Mount Irvine, or taking part in an SOS (Save our Seaturtles) Nesting or Hatchling Watch.

For the golf enthusiasts in your party, they can also advise with regards to the golf packages available at Tobago's two award-winning 18-hole championship golf courses. The course at Mt.Irvine is only a 5-10 minute drive from the villa.

Cooking can be arranged and for 10 people there would be a fee of US $80 per meal.

Plastic Plants in Paradise

We arrived after dark, late because of  a few missed connections. Excitement was mixed with exhaustion. The welcome meal set the tone for the coming week. Numerous hot and cold local dishes were presented by our host.  As she described the ingredients we knew we were in for a treat. Full stomached, off to bed we went. When the sun arose in the morning we were engulfed in the beauty of the streaming sunlight across the  ocean. The morning revealed that  Villa Soleil is a special place. The villa itself has a certain mystique about it. A fantastic siting, rich color palette and superb  views. The truly open-air main living area serves as the activity center of the villa. It's screenless design lets in the tropical  ocean breezes (and the mosquitos). Each of the thoughtfully  placed bedrooms are truly private with en suite baths and their own sitting areas looking out to the sea. Individual a/c units provide perfect sleeping conditions (when functioning properly). Inside, the decor was a mash-up of vintage West Indies and WallMart. Comfortable and numerous, the seating areas provided ample options for our group. Whomever put this space together missed the day in design school when they talked about "less is more". Plastic plants and tourist trap object d'art were everywhere trying to compete with the view. But everything was functional. We used the dock for fishing, pool for swimming, sun for tanning, and the three refrigerators to chill wine, beer, and rum punch fixings. Mt Irvine fish market provided the freshest fish ever. What an undertaking. To own a large property in such a remote area has got be difficult. When something goes wrong you have to rely on the locals to dig you out. And in this case they performed with a smile; again and again. We had constant a/c problems that were never fixed, broken pipes outside, a flood inside, a day without water and local plumbers in-and-out the whole week. And on top of that, we were able to pull-off a good time, enjoy the setting and relax. In the end I would recommend the place to friends but think that a  property this size would benefit from a full time staff. It is starting to show its age and needs a deep cleaning and power wash. But the setting and design are nearly perfect. Enjoy at your own risk, and try to keep one step in front of the insects!”
