Blue Hawaii Kai

Call ThirdHOME if you desire flexible arrival/departure dates or other dates you would like to reserve.

Live and breathe paradise at this FOUR bedroom, 4.5 Bathroom, separate office with a day-bed. This 5,000+ s.f. home's location is key to living 'Island Style' which is precisely why this home is in it’s exact spot. The conditions of the area made it possible for the owners to build an open-air home. Projecting out into the blue Pacific Ocean, the offshore winds enhance an open-air style of living, keeping it cool, dry, and sunny.

Built in complete privacy, the home is quiet and peaceful, yet open and welcoming, great for entertaining. From each room of the house, guests will find a beautiful view, amazing weather, and breathtaking sunsets. This home is on the Leeward side of the island, providing offshore tradewinds and protection from traffic noise.

Guests enter the home through a spacious, courtyard with a unique water feature in the center. The courtyard flows directly into the house with disappearing panel windows entering into the living room. Here, guests can lounge on the large, sectional sofa and feel the breeze as it blows through the open windows. The living area faces the ocean, through an entirely open lanai, with another, cozy seating area and a queen size day bed. It is the perfect spot for an ocean front snooze, or simply cozying up with a book.

As you walk your way through the living area, you will end up in the oceanside, garden area. Surrounded by luscious foliage, the back yard has a warm seating area, grill, hammock, infinity pool and hot tub, complete with an incomparable view of the deep blue ocean. Whales, dolphins and turtles pass the property sometimes so close you feel like you can touch them.

The home’s large kitchen is a chef’s dream! A stainless steel counter and black-granite large center island makes it easy to turn preparing dinner into a group affair. As the rest of the home flows, so does the kitchen. It flows directly into the dining room with seating for eight, and seamlessly continues to the outdoor, with a second covered dining area. Fire up the grill, tiki torches and relax, pau hana time (finished working).

Although the home boasts open qualities all around, the large, beautifully furnished bedrooms allow guests total privacy in paradise. Each room has its own bathroom, fan, and TV.

The master bedroom has a private lanai with day bed, private bath with large double-headed shower, tub, enclosed toilet and bidet, and direct ocean and ravine views.

Inside the guest suite, there is a wet bar, bathroom with oversized toilet seat and tub/shower combination, private entrance with ramp to accommodate guests with physical disabilities, and a private seating area just outside. The doors to this room also have 3 foot wide openings.

Then, there are two additional bedrooms, each with their own bathroom and garden/ravine views. To round up the private areas of the home there is a full office available for guests to use. Inside it, there is a single daybed. It is located next to the powder room that has both a sink and toilet.

'Blue Hawaii Kai' got it’s unique name hails from two different reasons. The first reason is because it's located in the prestigious area of Koko Kai. Second, because when the owner was 8 years old, Elvis Presley filmed 'Blue Hawaii’ in the area. Elvis and the owner had a run-in and Elvis tousled the young boys hair and said, "How you doing pal?” In honor of Elvis 'Blue Hawaii’ is in the home’s name.

The Hawaii Kai area has every amenity one would need, including all kinds of shopping (including Costco), medical services a mile away, restaurants (the original Roy's restaurant started here in Hawaii Kai), golf courses, surfing and many ocean activities either for hire, or to simply enjoy for free. In fact, one could stay in Hawaii Kai and never go to 'Honolulu' if they wanted to!

This property has been used in numerous TV shows, such as ‘LOST’, 'Bay Watch Hawaii’, 8 episodes of Hawaii Five-0’, movies, advertising (both national and international), and is 'the' favorite home of local location scouts seeking sets for their clients. Movie producers, cinematographers and celebrities have enjoyed the vibe of BHK.

The owners enjoy sharing their home, it's the Hawaiian way of life. This home is the Ultimate in Hawaiian Style Living. We believe that living your dream here will be a life-changing experience for your family, as it has been for many. You won't be disappointed!

Blue Hawaii Kai

Blue Hawaii Kai is truly a magnificent property. Our party of 9 was overwhelmed with Rob's property. My wife and I appreciated Rob and Annie's hospitality during our stay. Rob came by one day and drove some of us around to show us some secret trails and beaches close to the house. All the spaces of the house are beautifully decorated with wonderful Hawaiian art. The house flows wonderfully with a large group of people. We cooked in each night and the kitchen was a joy to cook in with close access to two different dining areas. The pool and grounds are beautifully maintained and framed the house in a spectacular manner. I know that each of our party will remember our fabulous week for years to come. This home is quite special - excellent location with the most spectacular views & sunsets. Rob & Anne could not have been more helpful & delightful. One possible small problem can be that if the trade winds are not working with you on a visit only one bedroom has AC. We loved our visit !!!”

5 stars +

This was beyond a doubt our best experience in a 3rd home stay. Yes it was Hawaii, but that does not come close to express the hospitality we experienced which made this exceptional home the complete package you would expect at a 5 star hotel. The Owners met us at the home when we arrived, showed us around the home, and how to use the amenities. This home is mostly open to the outdoors,( with big sliding doors, which we never closed), allowing the visitor to experience the mild Hawaii climate. The ocean front setting, overlooking the bay was spectacular, and the Architecture appreciated and took advantage of the cliff top setting and the sunsets. This house has warmth, and captures the simple spirit of Aloha. This stay changed how I will treat future 3rd home guests in our exchange home, because of the hospitality we experienced, and how much it added to our total enjoyment of the home. Rob had cold drinks stocked by the pool, put up safety fencing for us when he found we had a two year old in our party. After learning of our interests, Rob and Annie, the Owners, offered to show us the spots that locals enjoy, the best shopping, grocery stores, and took us on an extended tour of the best beaches that locals mostly frequent. The infinity pool was incredible, and Annie made sure we had a plentiful supply of towels. The dedicated ice maker in the kitchen they encouraged us to enjoy, every spice we would need,... Our adult son slept every night on the Lanai, and vows to include this feature in his future Hawaii home. We highly recommend this home to other club members, and give it 5 stars+”

A piece of paradise

Blue Hawaii Kai is incredible. The house was perfect for our family vacation. The views are breathtaking. It was difficult to determine if the daytime or night time views are better. The open floor plan brought the outdoors in and the pool is great. The location is close to city, beaches and great hikes. Rob, the owner, took us on a personal tour to familiarize us with that part of the island and could not have been nicer. We are looking forward to returning.”
