Description

Nirvana North

Enjoy your Alaskan adventure in style! The breathtaking beauty of our 49th state surrounds our home, which is nestled in old growth Alaskan forest amid the snow-capped Chugach Mountains and adjacent to the Chugach National Forest. The mountains are in sight from our home.

This newly constructed 2 bedroom, 3 bath, 4,100 sq. ft. private retreat is located on 26 acres. Take in the stunning surrounding views and enjoy all the amenities the home has to offer. Nestled in the woods, the home has spectacular views of the surrounding Church mountains. You can hear a rushing glacial stream and its waterfalls nearby. It's not uncommon for moose and even an occasional bear to walk nearby! Wild blueberries grow on the surrounding property.

This one of a kind property features three living areas, which can be used as additional sleeping areas if needed. The home sleeps 10 in total. In addition to the beds in the master suites, sleeping areas include: queen sized sleeper sofa in the loft living area, a loft room with two twin pull out beds, and a queen sized sleeper sofa in another living area.

A large kitchen is equipped with a Dacor oven and stove cooktop, sub zero refrigerator, essential cooking and dining dishes/pots/pans/utensils, and a massive center island inlaid with a sink and lined with 4 barstools to provide additional seating. A dining table that seats 10 is located between the kitchen and one of the living areas.

Both of the luxurious master suites have an ensuite bath, and the guest bath has a large soaking tub and shower. The first bedroom has a king bed, fireplace, large closet, and private bath with an LG steam shower, and the second bedroom features a king bed, walk-in closet, and private bath with a walk-in shower.

Features of the home include in-floor heat, three gas fireplaces, 3 large flat screen TVs, Wifi, fax/printer, blueray dvd players, outdoor hot tub, and a two car heated garage.

Sit surrounded by quiet and nature in the relaxing hot tub, walk out the front door to Max's mountain trail, or take a shorter walk from the home to the Virgin Creek Falls. This home has many unique elements and is well equipped to make your stay here a trip that you will never forget.

The 45 minute drive from Anchorage to Girdwood on the New Seward Highway is ranked among the 10 most scenic drives in the U.S. is an experience by itself. The New Seward takes you down the Turnagain Arm--home to Beluga whales, moose and mountain goats. South-central Alaska is a marvel--you'll find yourself mesmerized by its beauty, which can be explored by car or from the air. Flightseeing, which you can do out of Girdwood's airport, is highly recommended, as is landing on one of the glaciers in the area.

Winter skiing is one of the many attractions offered at Girdwood's famed Alyeska Resort, which Conde Nast has called one of the most beautiful in the world and has been ranked among the top 10 in North America by Forbes and National Geographic. This property is just a 5 minute drive to the resort and is a perfect home base for skiing. Alyeska averages a whopping 650 inches of snow each year and has more than 1,600 skiable acres with plenty of beginner, intermediate and expert terrain to choose from. Alyeska is a one of a kind resort that many avid skiers never get to take advantage of because of its Alaskan location.

Springs are beautiful and scented with the spruce and flowers in the area and autumn colors are nothing short of spectacular. Warm seasons feature long days. June sunrises come around 3:30am with sunsets at midnight.

Whittier, Alaska--the gateway to gorgeous Prince William Sound and its spectacular tidewater glaciers---is just 15 miles down the highway and whitewater rafting and world class fishing is just down the highway on the famed Kenai Peninsula. Hiking in the area is spectacular.

The Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward, a beautiful 2 hour drive from Girdwood, is well worth seeing, as is Resurrection Bay where cruises will introduce you to the whales, sea otters and sea lions which populate the area. And you're only 45 minutes from Anchorage and all the amenities of the major city.

The only way to describe Alaska is breathtaking, and our home has been designed with comfort in mind. If you just want to be quiet and escape the cares of life, there is no better place. Sit out in the hot tub and take in the fresh Alaskan air or take in a steam indoors. I hope you'll come and visit!

Reviews

Spectacular house and area

Our stay at Nirvana North was absolutely lovely. The house was a work of art itself, and yet very comfortable. And a tremendous base from which to enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Kenai Peninsula - the Aleyeska Resort, Turnagain Arm, Seward, and tons of jaw-droppingly beautiful views and tours of mountains, lakes, wildlife, etc. And don't miss the bore tide, an incredible natural phenomenon. Great restaurants in the area too (Seven Glaciers, Double Muskie, Jack Spratt). A really terrific stay and Tom and Sarah were very helpful and easy to work with. Truly one of the most spectacularly beautiful areas on the planet.”
