Introducing the new way Exchange members can travel Keyless with THIRDHOME.

As part of our 2022 Club Updates, THIRDHOME is introducing Keyless Tokens. Learn how Exchange members earn the ability to book Keyless trips moving forward.

What is a Keyless Token?

A Keyless Token allows Exchange members to book any available Keyless stay within 60 days of arrival without using any Keys. You simply pay the Exchange fee. Keyless weeks will show the hourglass icon. See here:

How do I earn Keyless Tokens?

When any week that you add is reserved, you will earn a Keyless Token. Tokens can be earned for Off-Season and last-minute weeks as long as the week is reserved.

Who is eligible for Keyless Tokens?

All Exchange members are eligible for Keyless travel; however, some fractional owners are not eligible for Keyless Tokens.*

*Disclaimer: If you are an Exchange member and fractional owner at Diamante, Rancho San Lucas, Hacienda Encantada, Hacienda Del Mar, or Casa Del Mar resorts, a Token will not be awarded. A different Keyless opportunity is available to you once your deposit requirement is met. Email memberexperience@thirdhome.com if you have questions.

I am in an elevated membership tier. Do I now need Tokens to travel Keyless?

Members of Chairman’s and President’s Club tiers will continue to enjoy original benefits, including Keyless travel until your term expires (learn more here). However, as you add weeks, keep in mind that you will begin to earn Keyless Tokens for host reservations before your elevated membership expires.

Current Chairman’s Club members do not need to use Tokens to book 60-day Keyless, but a Keyless Token allows President’s Club members to book into Keyless 60 (as opposed to Keyless 30). Therefore, any Keyless Tokens earned and used by a President’s Club member will give you this benefit today. Once your tier expires, your membership will move to the new system, and you will continue to be eligible for Keyless Tokens.

Where can I find my Keyless Tokens?

You can see your total number of Keyless Tokens on your dashboard.

Click on “Keyless Token” to be brought to your Keyless Token summary page, where you can see a history of your Keyless Tokens, including when they will expire.

Do Keyless Tokens expire?

Yes, each Keyless Token has a 24-month lifespan.

Can I travel Keyless without Tokens?

Sometimes. THIRDHOME will occasionally run exclusive broader Keyless promotions for the benefit of all. 

Using Keyless Tokens at Checkout

As of January 1, 2022, you may notice some changes to the booking checkout form. There is now an option to use a Keyless Token when applicable at checkout, as well as a new “TOTAL KEYS” line. This way, you can decide whether or not you want to use a Keyless Token on a qualifying reservation.

Here’s how you elect to use an available Keyless Token at checkout:

*Once “Use Keyless Token” is checked, the TOTAL (KEYS) drops to 0, and the reservation spends the Token to become Keyless.

If you do not have a Keyless Token, you will not be able to select the “Use Keyless Token” option, and the TOTAL (KEYS) will reflect the non-Keyless cost:

If you are in an elevated membership tier, such as Chairman’s or President’s Club, here is how you book Keylessly through your tier:

*This option will be available at checkout until your elevated membership tier expires.

Booking a week during a Keyless promotion? Similarly, you will see an auto-checked box, and the “TOTAL (KEYS)” will show 0. See here:

THIRDHOME Hosts now have protection for up to $5M USD of damage.

By partnering with SUPERHOG, THIRDHOME ensures that Guests and Hosts are protected during bookings.

THIRDHOME members are now protected by our award-winning risk-management partner, SUPERHOG. In the rare event a THIRDHOME Guest causes damage during a stay and doesn’t reimburse the Host, SUPERHOG provides protection for up to $5M in damage for any cause. This offer is global and includes both standalone homes and affiliate resort members.

Guest members continue to be responsible for their actions while staying in a property, and this does not absolve guests of any damage they inflict. However, our partnership with SUPERHOG allows THIRDHOME to offer members market-leading prevention. Our goal is to grant additional peace-of-mind for Host members.

What does SUPERHOG Protection cover?

SUPERHOG protects up to $5million USD in property damage caused by the accidental or deliberate; conduct of any THIRDHOME Guest.

How much does having SUPERHOG Protection cost?

Access to SUPERHOG Protection is included in your membership fee. This means that as a Host, all Exchanges through THIRDHOME will be covered by SUPERHOG automatically.

What do I do when I find damage?

In the unlikely event that a Guest causes damage to your property during a THIRDHOME stay.  notify your THIRDHOME Team member immediately and we will reach out to SUPERHOG on your behalf to get a claim started.  IMPORTANT: our SUPERHOG protection program has a ten (10) day reporting requirement.  Be sure to have someone inspect your home soon after you host and notify us if damage is apparent. Coverage may not apply if SUPERHOG is notified after the reporting period has lapsed.

Booking: Yes, booking a THIRDHOME Rental will enhance future travel. For every Rental you reserve with us, you will receive one Key to use on the Exchange site. The more travel with The Club, the better!

Listing: THIRDHOME Exchange members with homes that meet the rental site and specification requirements pay a lower commission fee compared to other rental listing sites.

If you notice your account is on limited status, it means that you have not made your required deposit or have not paid your annual dues.

To return to normal account status, you must:

  1. Pay your annual dues of $295
  2. Fulfill your annual deposit requirement

Note: Full owners must deposit 1 Key-earning week every 12 months. Fractional owners are required to deposit 1 Key-earning week every 24 months. The date of your last deposit will be used to track this requirement. Off-season and short notice weeks that book will also fulfill their requirement.

If you are up to date on your deposit but have not paid your annual dues, you can pay at any time. Otherwise, the fee will be added when you reserve a trip. Monetary credit can be used to pay for the full price of your annual dues.

Life is full of the unexpected. So is travel, which is why we love it. But sometimes, things can go wrong. Thus, THIRDHOME is incredibly excited to announce our partnership with USI Affinity Travel Insurance Services. We want members to be prepared for the uninvited “what-ifs” with a travel insurance plan.

Here are 5 Reasons You Need a Trip Protection Plan 

1. You’ve invested a significant expense in your trip. If you have to cancel, you may lose that money.

Canceling a trip is disappointing enough. You don’t want to lose your entire trip investment on top of it. The Trip Cancellation benefit may provide reimbursement of unused, non-refundable travel arrangements. Read your policy carefully for policy Terms & Conditions, exclusions, and termination provisions. You may purchase the Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) benefit option, and you can cancel your trip for any reason outside those listed in the policy to cover your non-refundable trip costs.  2. Once you’ve departed on your trip, plans can still go wrong.

Unfortunately, baggage loss or damage is not uncommon. Neither are travel delays. Our plans offer coverage for these scenarios. And if your trip is interrupted due to an unforeseen event, our plans may cover that too. Read the full list of covered reasons for Trip Interruption in the policy.

 3. You need coverage in case you get sick or injured while away from home.

If you get sick or injured on your trip, access to emergency medical and sickness coverage is important. Many people mistakenly believe medical care outside the United States is free or very cheap. This is not the case, particularly when you’re traveling outside of the U.S. In fact, many travelers have been shocked at the cost of care abroad.

The insurance plan also includes Emergency Medical Evacuation for medically necessary transportation to the nearest hospital or appropriate facility following a covered illness or injury. Read policy for benefit details.

4. The travel insurance plan gives you access to global 24/7 assistance services.

Let’s say your passport was lost or stolen at the airport. Or your prescription medications were left behind at home. Or you twisted your ankle on an excursion and need to find a doctor. Who do you call, and where do you go for help? Your plan comes with access to 24/7 global travel assistance services. If at any point you have any questions during your trip or need assistance, you can call the numbers provided and get immediate assistance.

5. Protect your vacation, plus emergency medical expenses and belongings while traveling.

We hope your trip goes smoothly. But think of your non-refundable financial trip expense. Would you be comfortable losing it in the event of a cancellation? And perhaps more importantly, think of the expense you could face if you become sick or injured while traveling and need emergency medical care or an evacuation. Purchasing travel insurance can help make your trip more enjoyable and relaxing. And that’s the whole point, right?

For many homeowners in the Club, hosting is an essential part of your membership. In exchange for the opportunity to travel the world and visit other members’ luxury residences, members host trusted fellow THIRDHOME members as guests in their own vacation homes.

As you add weeks into the Club, you will, by definition, host more often. However, this means that, in return, you will earn more Keys and have additional opportunities to travel. At THIRDHOME, we value our hosts and greatly appreciate your contribution to our inventory. We offer residences in 100 countries thanks to our gracious hosts worldwide.

If you have sold your vacation home or are considering selling your property, please let the THIRDHOME team know. It’s important to ensure that the weeks you add into the Club are made in good faith. If a member has booked a stay in your home, it is our expectation that you will make accommodations to honor that reservation. Do not hesitate to pass along the new homeowner’s information, as you will receive a referral credit if they join.

Additionally, please update your account if your primary residence has moved or if any of your personal information has changed. To do so, log in to your account, select your profile icon in the top right corner, and then click the “Manage” gear icon. This will bring you to your Manage Account page, where you will select “Edit Profile.”

Ever considered life at sea? Something more than the typical week-long, crowded, commercial cruise experience? That’s the ethos of an exciting new partner we recently added to the THIRDHOME family. Storylines is a luxury cruise ship, but this vessel is far from any standard cruise line. Instead, think more along the lines of a luxury ocean-going condominium complex, where a Storylines resident/owner can choose to be at sea 12 months of the year.  

The ship will be delivered sometime in the second half of 2024 and consist of 547 individually-owned cabins, with Residences ranging in price and size from the efficient studio apartment priced at $367,000 USD, up to the Global Suite, featuring 2,200 spacious square-feet of living space on two floors offered at $8m USD.  

Once Storylines inventory is available on the Exchange, residence owners will be offering month-long stays aboard the ship as it navigates the globe. 2020 was filled with challenges, new ideas & team work for THIRDHOME.

What did 2020 look like for this luxury home exchange and travel club?

It is no secret that 2020 was a difficult year for many industries worldwide, and the travel industry was no exception. However, THIRDHOME met the challenges of 2020 head-on while keeping members and its team’s safety at top of mind.

We worked from home to stay healthy, we collaborated as a team to be flexible, and we learned to pivot and lean on each other when a new challenge arose.

In the moments where the thought of travel seemed so far out of reach, our members were always looking towards the future and booking their next luxury stay! As we also look towards an exciting and travel-filled 2021, we paused to take one last look back at 2020 and realized we still had plenty of growth and highlights to applaud.

There was much to celebrate in 2020! THIRDHOME opened a new office in Marbella, Spain to propel our growth and meet increased international demand. We launched a new branding campaign that gave our logo a refresh that incorporated our signature Key. The technology team even rounded up their “Top 10 Tech Updates”, which include our new Exchange home page, new mapping tools for regional travel, custom deposits, expanded search filters and more. The team even added the ability to upload YouTube or Vimeo videos to property pages!

Members participated in over 3,500 home exchanges last year and we already have 1,754 confirmed for this year. We’re looking forward to more travel, growth and success in 2021 and we’ll be here to assist you whenever you are ready to book one (or more) of our 11,300 available weeks! 2019 was a great year for THIRDHOME.

What did 2019 look like for this luxury home exchange and travel club?

THIRDHOME reached over 11,000 properties, created 20+ new partnerships with luxury brands all around the world and focused on growing its European portfolio. THIRDHOME Adventures sold out multiple luxury trips to Morocco, African safaris and launched new trips to Peru, Fiji, Iceland and Anguilla!
