It seemed like a good idea at the time….

After all, it was only 248 really steep steps to get to the top of the Aztec’s Pyramid of the Sun in the ancient Mesoamerican City of Teotihuacan.  Furthermore, my buddy Paul, who I formerly thought was a really smart guy, assured me that we would have no trouble climbing the pyramid.  When we were halfway to the top, and all the way exhausted, Paul reminded me that if I turned back now he would forever humiliate me for failing to complete our mission while he conquered the pyramid. So the challenge was on and we both made it to the top, with an awesome view of the Aztec Avenue of the Dead for the kick off to our Mexico City adventure.

Now I consider myself to be a big-city kind of guy having grown up in Chicago, nearly 3 million strong, City of Big Shoulders, home of “Da Bears”, deep dish pizza, and lots of traffic. But Greater Mexico City with a metropolitan population of nearly 22 million people is another story. It is the largest, and arguably, the most interesting metropolitan area in the Western Hemisphere with unique neighborhoods, plazas, markets and historic buildings. Mexico City’s Chapultepec Park is twice as big as New York’s Central Park and features three museums, a zoo, a castle, a lake and lots of green spaces to escape from noise and traffic.

THIRDHOME‘s Casa Rombos IV

Our home base for the week was THIRDHOME’s Casa Rombos IV located in the trendy Bosque De Las Lomas section of the City. Rombos IV is the most architecturally unique residence I’ve experienced since joining THIRDHOME. It featured dramatic lighting options in every room, geometric nooks and crannies throughout the house, a master bedroom large enough to get lost in at night and for good measure, a tree in the middle of the house. Furthermore, we had a large theater room to watch our Mexico-based movies, Frida and Roma, while enjoying tacos and Tecate beers. Finally, our cocinera (cook) ensured we did not go hungry, preparing breakfast and dinner for us each day. My favorite dinner featured a seafood medley with shrimp, octopus and habanero peppers.

Rombos IV was our retreat to relive the day’s adventures and rejuvenate for the next day. Way better than a hotel and far more economical when booked through The Club. THIRDHOME residences exist all over the world in any number of large cities including Paris, London, New York, Istanbul, Rio De Janeiro and Los Angeles. When staying in a THIRDHOME in any of these major cities, I’ve always felt a good degree of privacy. Especially at Rombos IV in Mexico City, where 7 of us enjoyed the residence while still maintaining plenty of space for us to relax and retreat to after a great day of exploring the exciting city.

Thus, after our mandatory research on the TripAdvisor website and considerable debate, my Mexican and Gringo visitors came up with a plan to see as much as humanly possible in a 7-day period. These were our highlights of the week:

1. Tequila tasting at Nayaa Mezcalero

A visit to the Nayaa Mezcalero, the largest such facility in the world, where the tastiest Mezcal in Mexico is produced, was definitely high on the list.   The Mescalero features 4 unique agave plants, each with a distinct taste, for those of us who gravitate toward the agave/tequila side of life. Our tour of the scenic complex was informative and fun with a tasting at the end of 6 different versions of this award-winning beverage (San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2016). For those old-time mezcal drinkers (like myself) who remember the worm at the bottom of the bottle don’t worry. No worm, only a really tasty beverage.

2. Biking through Chapultepec Park

My favorite city outing was our “Bike and Munchie” excursion through several neighborhoods and Chapultepec Park. The tour included two of my favorite things in life: biking and eating.  Five of us, with guidance from our guides Paola and Fernando, biked 8 miles stopping frequently to sample local cuisine ranging from street tacos to fried grasshoppers (not a do-over). The food was “muy rico” and in between biking and eating, Paola gave us an informative history lesson covering 500 years from Aztecs to Spaniards to Mayans. We visited several local markets and admired the multitude of “street art” painted on the various city buildings.

3. Visiting the Frida Kahlo Museum

A walking tour of the historic Coyuacan neighborhood featured the Frida Kahlo Museum. The museum highlights the passionate and turbulent lives of two iconic Mexican artists: Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. If you haven’t already seen it, go immediately to Netflix and watch the Oscar-winning movie Frida starring Selma Hayek to get a glimpse of 1930’s Mexico City.  Coyuacan is the site of the first Spanish settlement in Mexico City and history and art are woven into the culture of this historic location. In addition, the Mercado Artesenal was the optimal location to load up on cool gifts for friends and family.

4. Watching Lucha Libre

Our most “wacky” outing was to the Arena Mexico for a night of Lucha Libre, Mexico’s answer to WWE Wrestling. The noisy, music blaring match featured muscular Mexican wrestlers acrobatically tossing each other around and out of the ring to the cheers and delight of the capacity crowd.  This is a fun family outing with children, who deck themselves out in their favorite wrestler masks. The whole crowd shows up ready to hoot, holler, boo and hiss through the whole event. It’s easy to tell the “good guys” from the “bad guys” and the referees never have control of the match from start to finish.

5. Listening to mariachi bands at Mariachi Plaza Garibaldi

We capped off the week with a nighttime visit to Mariachi Plaza Garibaldi, a plaza full of large and small mariachi bands all jockeying to serenade visitors with classic mariachi tunes. A variety of restaurants and bars offer food and drink, but the real attraction is the music played by the decked out singers. Mariachi classics such as “Cielito Lindo” and “Guantanamera” can be heard from all corners of the plaza. If mariachi is not your thing, not far from Garibaldi is The Zinco Jazz Club for traditional jazz favorites in a small and cozy venue.

We found our week in Mexico City to be adventurous, colorful and entertaining with sensational food, friendly people and plenty of memories. On to the next big city adventure!

“The Luxxe Chairman’s Villa was the perfect spot to experience all that the Puerto Vallarta has to offer.

Let me just say that once my friends and I checked into the villa we really didn’t want to leave. This is quite simply the nicest and most luxurious condominium I have ever experienced. The rooms are huge and the furnishings and decorations comfortable and beautiful. The outside deck was expansive with separate areas to dine al fresco or just sit and read while admiring the view. The entire staff at the residence was extremely friendly and helpful and even provided an in-room coffee service at 6 am each morning. In addition, there is a rooftop bar, restaurant and pool with a view of the entire Banderas Bay that is breathtaking. The Villa is located inside of Vidanta, a large Mexican resort with numerous restaurants and pools and tons of activities for adults and children including nightly entertainment in ‘The Sanctuario’ an extraordinary outside venue. David, the owner, was extremely helpful prior to the visit and provided us with everything we needed to seamlessly register and enter the resort. This property is highly recommended. “

“Where do I begin.

We had an amazing time staying in this 4br Grand Luxxe residence. We used this property for our kids Spring Break this year and could not have been more impressed with the Residence and the property in general. We were 9 total(4 adults and 5 kids) and couldn’t have spread out more if we tried. Everything was perfect and everyone was so nice and helpful. They treated us like as we were the owners…The rooftop pool at the Residence Tower was where we ended our days each and every day. There is a restaurant there and a pool and 2 hot tubs… If the opportunity arises again I will jump at the chance to stay at this amazing property again. Thank You David [the owner] and Thank You THIRDHOME for allowing this opportunity for me to come together!”

“Totally fabulous resort and villa!

This was the most incredible travel experience. This 5-star resort was very high end with the most amazing villa, 18 restaurants with fabulous food, a beautiful beach club that served wonderful tropical drinks and impeccable service. The contemporary villa was very large with an amazing balcony including a plunge pool. We all had several spa treatments and there was a nice workout room. The owner gave several perks with the reservation and had great recommendations for restaurants and activities. The Grande Luxxe status gave guests extra perks within the resort. Our family had a wonderful relaxing vacation. It takes a bit to impress us but this was over the top. I highly recommend Vidanta Resorts. ”

“A Luxury Paradise.

The Grand Luxxe apartment is so beautiful, comfortable, big, has great service, it’s real luxury, and the common areas are great. At the beach club, you’ll find anything you need, from any kind of food in the various restaurants, to a really nice mini-market for the comfort of eating something in your place or just have a bottle of wine. The Spa is fantastic! We had a great massage. I higly recomend it. Scott, the owner was very helpful and easy in everything we asked and needed. Thanks, Scott for letting us enjoy this beautiful place.”

“Solaz los Cabos: You will love it.

We just spent 2 sun-drenched amazing weeks at Solaz and we could not be happier. The entire staff was warm, welcoming, and eager to help… One of the best amenities is the beach, and it is swimmable!! Many options as far as pools are concerned and the fitness center was ideal. The roof top desert gardens were unique and much more aesthetically pleasing than typical roof tops. Architecturally, a master piece. The interiors of the suites were perfect and the beds were the best ever… Overall 5 stars, and we look forward to our return visit.”

“Welcome Home.

The kind attention to every detail in preparation of our stay by the Owners was unprecedented. That level of service and thoughtfulness met us at the property with an informative check in and thorough tour of the stunning home. “Welcome Home” was the kindest greeting! The impeccable design and cleanliness was only outweighed but the spectacular view. We enjoyed the fine services of the restaurant, activities center, beach club and poolside—gracious and unobtrusive. We slept luxuriously and enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen for preparing breakfast. Loved our stay so much we are ready to return and make it home! ”

The home is also near the central Spiegelgracht canal, a hot spot for artists, galleries and coffee shops. With room for 4 people, this property is perfect for a week-long exploration of Amsterdam and all the art and culture it has to offer.

THIRDHOME member Leslie says, “Our stay at the High End Canal House was fantastic. Our host could not have been nicer, and the location was fantastic. We walked all over the great city of Amsterdam, enjoying the great vibrancy, food, beauty, culture and museums. When we ventured out of the city, public transportation was easy and nearby. After full days of sightseeing, we came home to the well appointed flat that was charming and cozy, but the perfect size for two couples. We stayed on the run because there was much to see, but we would have also been content to simply enjoy the lovely views from the windows of boats meandering along the canals and the locals on bicycles.” click here to read more of Leslie’s review.

THIRDHOME member Carl says, “My wife and actually stayed at the Landmark Resort for 3 weeks in unit (510). We had seen pictures before we booked the stay. But the pictures did not do it justice. Our condominium was on the 5th floor and had an ocean view from each bedroom. The place was huge and very modern. Marble and tile everywhere. The beds, all kings, were very comfortable. The furniture was very nice and all 3 bedrooms had a 55-inch smart TV. The gym was nice and I used it almost every day. The pool area was so nice you did not want to leave. The grounds were nicely kept and there was 24-hour security. But all of these amenities did not make the stay a great experience. It was the staff! Adriana, Ramon, Jair and Paola without a doubt made our stay an experience we will always remember.” click here to read more of Carl’s review.

We were most delighted with the Chateau…It is a large, beautiful place to stay and convenient to the many wineries that are scattered around the area. They had a wine expert who we hired to take us to several of them, and it was our top day. The rooms are spacious and beautifully done. The bathrooms were modernized which was important for us, as the original house was built in the 1400’s, I believe. We had one day of skeet shooting on the property, and the chef prepared 2 meals for us in the house…It was a delightful historic place on a beautiful piece of property and I recommend it highly with 5 stars!” click here to read more of Alyse’s review.

Made popular in Europe, plunge pools are becoming a popular alternative to larger and harder to maintain pools. They also help home owners save big on water, space and electricity.

According to Home Advisor, a standard in-ground pool can cost up to $57,000, while plunge pools cap out around $25,000. An average or mid-sized pool will typically exceed 600 square feet. Plunge pools are loosely defined as being less than 600 square feet and being less than 6 feet deep. If you’re looking to add a dose of luxury to your backyard without breaking the bank, a thoughtfully laid out plunge pool might do the trick. Or you might just want to jump into a few of the pools below during your next stay.

Check out our Top 6 THIRDHOME Plunge Pool Picks to inspire your next stay or home renovation project:

Believed to increase circulation and help the muscles relax, Contrast Therapy has also found popularity in an audience apart from professional athletes: luxury homeowners. Homes like Casa Arrecifes allow guests to unwind in unique fashion and with incredible views.

4. Canggu, Indonesia

Canggu indonesia plunge pool

Como Uma Canggu-Luxury Penthouse

Welcome to the most romantic plunge pool in Bali. Located at the Como Uma Canggu beachfront resort, these penthouse plunge pools are the best thing to happen to a master suite since heated floors and in-room jacuzzis. On the larger end of the plunge pool spectrum, this pool measures in at about 540 square feet. Step through the Master suite’s sliding glass doors and you’ll notice the 45 degree receding roofline adorned by green ivy. Giving you the best of both worlds, this roof design keeps the deck area partially shaded while letting the pool be fully exposed to the sun and dramatic ocean views.  If you’re looking for an idyllic tropical getaway look no further. You may consider installing one off your master bedroom back home after experiencing this kind of luxury first-hand.

3. Kalkan, Turkey

Turkey Plunge pool

Ketchy Villa

Facing Kalkan Bay, this Turkish Villa pool terrace is a refreshing mix of modern and old world charm. Featuring a blue-tile infinity plunge pool, this villa’s pool area pushes the limits of what a plunge pool can be. Rooftop pools usually require great feats of engineering and architecture, considering the additional load placed on the structure. And retrofitting a property for a rooftop pool usually isn’t worth the trouble, much less building an infinity pool (another mechanical feat). That’s why there’s so much to appreciate when staying at Ketchy Villa. The owners managed to transform a classically designed seaside Turkish home into a modern luxury holiday retreat, in large part due to the rooftop plunge pool feature. Be sure to consult an architect or engineer before installing one on your roof!

2. Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas plunge pool

Palms Place Penthouse

If you thought Ketchy Villa’s rooftop design was daring, consider swimming over Las Vegas at this plunge pool at the Palms Place Penthouse. A cantilevered t-shape design allows this tiny pool to hover over the city, making for stunning city views. If you have a fear of heights, the transparent bottom may shock you at first. But the surrounding glass safety walls and reinforced tile entry will soon redirect your attention to the bright lights of Vegas. The 1,000 square foot balcony also features living and entertaining space around the plunge pool. If you’re looking for unique plunge pool design, this is the pinnacle.

1. Palm Springs, California

palm springs plunge pool

Palm Springs Modern

Simple, modern and beautiful. This Palm Springs home features an elegant plunge pool that blends seamlessly into the landscaping. Earth tones, rock and desaturated greens dot the hillside complementing the pool’s blue, and the patio’s white, umber and sienna decor. It’s no wonder Elle Decor and Land Rover both used this location for brand photo shoots. The desert locale is perfect weather for enjoying a refreshing splash. The pool also has a heating feature for cold desert nights when the stars are at their peak visibility. If you’re looking for a subtle touch of luxury that can fit into most residential designs, this plunge pool is the perfect choice.

Ah, Puerto Vallarta, my favorite city on this Earth!

Puerto Vallarta Larry Grossman

And I’m not alone. Puerto Vallarta was among Conde Nast Traveler 2017 Reader’s Choice Award picks for one of the “Best Cities in the World” as well as one of the “Top Small Cities Outside the U.S.”.

Puerto Vallarta Mexico Larry Grossman

After all, how can a city that boasts being the film location of Schwarzenegger’s “Predator” as well as legendary Director John Huston’s “Night of the Iguana” not be a really special place?

Larry Grossman Puerto Vallarta Mexico

So, after years of begging my two birthday compadres, Tina and Fiesta, to move our annual celebration (our birthdays are August 14th, 15th and 16th) out of the U.S. to Mexico, I finally won out and we planned a week long birthday celebration and reunion.

Larry grossman Puerto Vallarta

Ten long-time friends hopped on planes in Florida, Virginia, Colorado and Arizona and headed down to Puerto Vallarta for a birthday party for the ages. My final argument to the group was compelling and three-fold:

Casa en las nubes THIRDHOME Puerto Vallarta Larry Grossman

Reason #1: I had scored a beautiful 11,000 square-foot penthouse through THIRDHOME for our birthday week located in the hills above the “Romantic Zone” of Puerto Vallarta.

Casa en las nubes THIRDHOME Puerto Vallarta Larry Grossman

Reason #2: Casa En Las Nubes (House in the Clouds) features a panoramic view of the City and Banderas Bay as well as a view of the Sierra Madre Mountains and, dare I mention, a private Chef named Santos and an exquisite bartender named Maurecio.

Reason #3: If your parents were savvy enough to name you “Fiesta” shouldn’t you, and your husband, spend important moments south of the border?

Larry Grossman Puerto Vallarta Mexico

Now, there are many who believe that the only time to travel to Mexico is the winter season when snow, ice and freezing rain are the norm in much of the United States. I, however, have learned over the years that summer in Vallarta is a fantastic time to visit for the following reasons:

So how do 10 old friends suddenly reunited in the same house for a week spend their waking vacation hours?

Larry Grossman Puerto Vallarta Mexico

For starters, you reminisce, relax and rejuvenate. Our best moments were sitting together talking for hours in one of the home’s huge outside living areas looking down into the city as the sun sets and the Puerto Vallarta landscape moved from daytime to dazzling nighttime scenery.

Larry Grossman Puerto Vallarta Mexico

Casa En Las Nubes was ideally situated for our nightly bonding. I have visited nearly every nook of Puerto Vallarta and nothing compares to the views we enjoyed each day. Throw in the amazing food and beverages and we really had no need to venture out, but venture out we did.

Larry Grossman Puerto Vallarta Mexico

So many highlights over the 7 days but here are my personal favorites:

Larry Grossman Puerto Vallarta Mexico

Highlight #1: Our water taxi and snorkeling ride to the Yelapa fishing village. Yelapa is a small Mexican town lost in time. On the towns website they brag: “A palapa in Yelapa is better than a condo in Redondo”. We sampled the world’s best Michelada (beer, clamato, shrimp, jicama, peanuts and more), we hiked to, and swam below the Yelapa waterfall, we sampled raicilla, a locally produced fermented mash (moonshine) and we took pictures with the biggest iguana I’ve ever seen.

Larry Grossman Puerto Vallarta Mexico

Highlight #2: We spent a day roaming Puerto Vallarta’s Malecon (downtown boardwalk) admiring the numerous one-of-a-kind statues and sculptures while talking to locals, sampling tequila and indulging in local seafood. The huge local Mercado (market) met all our souvenir and shopping needs for the week.

Puerto Vallarta Larry Grossman

Highlight #3: We ubered into the jungle to visit El Eden an eco-tourism natural park, site of the Predator movie set. Although we were all too chicken (or old) to participate, we watched the zipliners careen past us while we enjoyed a seafood lunch, listened to mariachi music and swam in the swimming hole beneath the Eden waterfall.

Casa en las nubes THIRDHOME Puerto Vallarta Larry Grossman

Highlight #4: The surprise afternoon visit of the mariachi band to our condo to usher in our birthday celebration. Thank you Dale and Art!

Larry Grossman Puerto Vallarta Mexico

“Priceless” is the only word that describes a week like the one we just enjoyed. I’ve found the real joy of THIRDHOME membership to be the opportunity to travel in a first-class manner to outstanding places while enjoying the company of my closest family members and friends. Gotta go, time to plan my next escapade.

When I moved toward retirement my friend Paul offered me the following advice:

Larry Grossman in Cabo San Lucas THIRDHOME

“There are 3 Stages in Retirement:
1. Go-Go.
2. Slow-Go. and
3. No-Go.
You better enjoy Stage 1 as long as you can because you never know when 2 and 3 are going to hit.”

Since Paul is about the smartest guy I know, I decided to follow his advice and over the past 3 years I’ve taken almost 40 trips as a member of THIRDHOME across the US, Europe, South America and Mexico.

In fact, since last November, I’ve trekked across Mexico and Guatemala, from Cozumel in the East, to Zihuatenejo in the West, and south to Guatemala, staying in seven THIRDHOME residences.

During my somewhat manic and adrenaline-filled adventure I visited 18 different cities and towns while meeting countless locals, taking hundreds of photos in numerous colorful markets and sampling many versions of guacamole and sipping tequila (one of life’s great combinations).

As an added bonus I had 27 friends share my south of the border adventures across all venues.

Now I admit to being a bit of a travel junkie and nothing excites me more than opening my latest edition of National Geographic Traveler or perusing the THIRDHOME website to see what just became available.

To me, maximizing my travel opportunities provided by THIRDHOME is simply a “no-brainer” and having the ability to invite friends and family on these trips has become a staple of my journeys.

I’ve become a pretty popular guy and if everyone is using me for my travel “hookup” so be it, because I’m having a ball. We are all seeing the world in a first-class manner that a few years ago, prior to joining THIRDHOME, I couldn’t have imagined.

There were so many highlights on my recent South of the Border expedition that it is hard to isolate the best moments, but here are a few of my favorites:

1. Sampling a seafood stew served in a molcajete (volcanic rock bowl) at a beachfront restaurant in Bucerias, Mexico, while listening to an 8-piece mariachi band playing Mexican classics.

2. Spending a sunny February afternoon sitting on our deck in the awesome Novaispania THIRDHOME property in Cabo San Lucas and watching dozens of whales breach and perform their unique acrobatics.

3. Kayaking in Lake Atitlan in Guatemala, surrounded by volcanoes, and watching local fishermen catch their dinner.

4. Observing while women in San Pedro La Laguna, Guatemala, demonstrated a process called “backstrap weaving” to make the most colorful fabrics on earth, all dyed with plants, bark, vegetables, insects and fruits.

5. Taking a morning swim in the crystal clear Sea of Cortez in Ixtapa, Mexico, followed by a Mexican breakfast of fresh fruit and chilaquiles to begin the day.

6. Diving into cool water underneath a waterfall in the “lost in time” Mexican fishing village of Yelapa, Mexico.

In my “Retired Guy” travels I’ve found that my THIRDHOME membership is an unmatchable tool to get me to some of the best places on earth. My plan is to savor this opportunity for first-class travel by continuing to deposit weeks into The Club and continue to take advantage of Keyless travel opportunities.

Back-to-back trips are a great treat for those members, who, like me, have a “nomadic” spirit. So little time and so many places to see. Adios Amigos until my next report!

“I’ll tell you where I’d go. Zihuatanejo.  It’s in Mexico.  A little place on the Pacific Ocean…..It’s where I want to live the rest of my life.”  So said Tim Robbins’ character “Alex” to Morgan Freeman’s “Ellis Boyd” in the 1994 screen classic, The Shawshank Redemption.

SPOILER ALERT: Eventually, Alex and Ellis are reunited in Mexico following a lengthy incarceration (watch the movie for more detail) and the fishing village is as beautiful as described by Alex.

zihuatanejo

After spending a week in Zihuatanejo and sister city Ixtapa I believe Alex was on to something. I could spend the rest of my life in this town and be a happily retired guy.

Zihuatanejo

Present day Zihuatanejo (referred to as “Zihua” by locals) is no longer a “sleepy” fishing village but is, in fact, the 3rd leading tourist destination in Mexico behind Cancun and Puerto Vallarta.

Zihuatanejo

Although cruise ships now dock here on a regular basis, Zihua retains a high level of Mexico charm with cultural attractions and several drop-dead gorgeous beaches.

Zihuatanejo

There is a daily thriving market, enough seafood restaurants to last a lifetime and a  “Malecon” with strolling mariachis at night.

Zihuatanejo

Mornings are particularly memorable in El Centro as the fishing boats return early in the morning loaded with the fresh catch of the day which ranges from tuna to red snapper to clams and oysters.

Zihuatanejo

Get there early (before 8 am) for the best selection of fresh fish.

Zihuatanejo

Whereas, Zihuatanejo is old Mexico charming and a delightful place to walk around and spend the day, Ixtapa, 20 minutes down the road, has a “luxury resort” relaxing feel.

Zihuatanejo

Our THIRDHOME for the week was Casa Cuatro located in Punta Ixtapa, a gated community that we never wanted to leave.

Zihuatanejo

The home, as I’ve come to expect from staying in THIRDHOME properties, was spacious, beautifully decorated, and had a terrace you could hang out in all day and night.

Zihuatanejo

The Punta Ixtapa community features 6 stunning private beaches, 3 beach clubhouses with restaurants, several pools that stayed empty during most of our stay, a fitness center and tennis courts.  Since Casa Cuatro was located right on Don Rodrigo Beach shoes were an optional accessory much of the week.

Zihuatanejo

There were many highlights of our week in Paraiso (Spanish for Paradise) but here are my personal favorites:

Zihuatanejo

Martina, our cocinera (chef), preparing authentic Mexican breakfast specialties and great seafood dinners each evening.

Zihuatanejo

The “Pelican and Sunrise” movie we got to watch every morning as literally hundreds of pelicans danced and dove for breakfast in the ocean directly in front of us while the sun rose over the mountains.

Zihuatanejo

Hanging out at the Don Rodrigo Club restaurant drinking margaritas while watching the NFL playoffs and explaining American football to David and Jose, our waiters.

Zihuatanejo

Watching the 4 Mexican Pole Flyers (Voldadores) climb and descend from a 100-foot pole upside down hanging from ropes while the 5th “Flyer plays Mayan tunes with a flute standing at the top of the pole. Wow!!!

Zihuatanejo

Renting a bicycle and pedaling the Ixtapa Cicloplista, 7.5 miles of bike path winding through Ixtapa’s lush forest. Somewhat hilly but a beautiful ride.

Zihuatanejo

Experiencing releasing baby sea turtles to the ocean at sunset from the beach in Zihuatanejo.

Zihuatanejo

Despite the tremendous experiences I have when traveling around this beautiful country I read the travel advisories and I know there is trepidation about visiting any number of places in Mexico at this time. According to a recent survey conducted by the Mexican Tourism Board, 94% of visitors indicated that their vacation “exceeded their expectations” and 86% said they plan on returning in the following 6 months. I am happy to report that this THIRDHOME trip exceeded my expectations and I look forward to returning to Mexico.

From the shores of Playa del Carmen, it’s possible to make out some of the lights and shapes that make up the tropical paradise of Cozumel. For the most part, the island is undeveloped, making for a more secluded and peaceful tropical vacation. Tucked away on the island sits The Landmark of Cozumel, a marble-finished collection of luxury oceanfront residences. THIRDHOME is proud to announce a partnership with The Landmark of Cozumel, making these residences available to THIRDHOME members.

Why your next stay should be at The Landmark of Cozumel:
